1986 F250 Glow Plug problem. There are a few things that can cause that problem. One is the relay. The other is a temp switch on the front of the motor. One easy way to tell if the glow plugs are no good without taking them out of the vehicle is with a 12 volt test light.

Light not coming on does not mean glowplugs are not on, it just means you don't have to wait for them to get up to temparture as there is no cold weather impeding them reaching temperature

There is zero chance of the glow plugs being active in the current weather. Even when they are on in cold temperatures the supply is on for less than a minute.
Then when it is 20 below and you need to start the truck, half of the glow plugs are toast from cycling when they were not needed. Pre-Power Stroke Diesel (7.3L IDI & 6.9L) - f250 glow plug relay - my 1989 f250 7.3 wont always cycle the glow plugs enough to start.
