Compared to the Canon 50mm 1.4 EF at 1.4, the 24mm have more definition. The 50mm has that halo-dreamy look at 1.4. None of this with the 24mm. Compared to the Sigma 24-60mm/2.8 (another VG lens in my kit and an absolute bargain) at 2.8 and 24mm, the Canon wins hand down. Sony has taken the wraps off of its new 24mm F1.4 GM full-frame lens, which the company claims is the lightest in its class. Despite its fast aperture, the 24mm F1.4 is remarkably light, weighing just 445 grams (15.7 ounces). The lens will set you back $1400 when it ships next month.
Handling & Body Differences. The Sony lens is significantly smaller and dramatically lighter than the Sigma. In Sony E-mount, the Sigma lens is about one inch longer than in Canon EF mount, making it a bit front-heavy, especially considering that it weighs 27.5 ounces: about 75% more than the Sony GM lens.
