Once you get to Lauterbrunnen you again have to change to an even narrower guage train for the final 20 min. journey up to Wengen. It's the only train there. You just walk a couple of tracks over and you're there. It probably sounds like a lot of fooling around but you should be there in around three hours. It's well worth the trip.
Two spacious 75-passenger cabins transport you in comfort from Wengen to Männlichen. It takes just under five minutes to climb the 947 metres to Männlichen – precious time you can invest in admiring one of the world's most scenic mountain vistas. With a little luck, you might even see the thundering waters of the Staubbach Falls.
If you arrive by train, on the journey from Interlaken, you’ll get teasing glimpses of the mountains as you approach Lauterbrunnen. And the views of Lauterbrunnen itself start in the station, from where you can see super-tall Staubbach Falls. And you’ll likely walk up the hill into the centre of the village.
Bus or walk to Trummelbach Falls then bus or walk to Staubach Falls then bus or walk to Lauterbrunnen station then train back to Wengen. You can decide on the ones I have indicated bus or walk as you go. All of the valley walks from the Stechelberg station to Lauterbrunnen are on paved routes so you can use your pushchair.
You can go up one way, and down the other way for a beautiful round trip. Option 1: cable car from Wengen to Männlichen. Wengen can be reached by train from Lauterbrunnen. If you arrive by car, you’ll have to park in Lauterbrunnen and change to the train. From the railway station of Wengen, it’s a 5-minute walk to the cable car valley station.
It takes about 2 1/2 hours from Lauterbrunnen up to Murren and abouty 4 1/2 hours from Murren up to the Schilthorn. If you are staying in Lauterbrunnen there are some relatively easy hikes on the Wengen side of the valley as well.
